They kept threatening a prisoner of the gallows every time they wanted to see him in fear. One fine day, when everyone was searching for him, they found him fast asleep near the gallows. Upon questioning, he said, "The more you kept threatening me about the gallows, I developed an interest towards the same and my fear vanished. I am sleeping here because, I am ready for it anytime. If you wish to see me in the gallows, you need not take the effort to find and scare me anymore. I am here. It is just a matter of time before I hang there". What can you infer from this? Well, this is from no ancient story or reality. It is from my own Life. After the previous statement, I ask again, What can you infer from this? The question makes no sense, isn't it?
When we think on the lines that we are about to benefit from something, we give our extra effort just for the sake of acquiring the benefit. But, when the same abstract is clarified to be from a common man's thought process, we immediately turn down our thought process by looking at it in an inferior manner. If this is not clear enough, I will give you more of such examples.
A person who thinks and acts only for himself once planned for a long weekend and wanted to go on a road trip but does not know how to drive. So, he takes my help in planning it. Since they are used to thinking only for themselves, they abruptly change the plans and decide to visit a local national park. Now, this is of no interest to me. So, I was not willing to give that person the benefit. As in, when they had the liberty to decide something of their own, I took or say, I grabbed or snatched my liberty(which was in tatters) to decide of my own.
Silly, isn't it? Yes. It is silly not because of what the other person did. It is silly to you because I did the same to them. This is how the world is today. We do not look at the cause of the incident but we go into debates about the consequences. Even the law punishes the one who provokes the criminal but, we the law-abiding citizens will not even think of giving an apt term to the one who provoked the criminal. We are so fond of identifying the criminal and taking them to task. Who goes into even finding out what made him the criminal?
From silly to making some sense. So, what do you infer now? The inference is all about money. I tell you. It is money that will decide how people see you. If you owe someone some money, just wait for sometime to see how they change their perception about you over time. If you find a change in perception and how they treat you, just make note of the amount you owe them. After repaying the amount, next time when they approach you, fix the same amount as the price to be paid by them to get any respect from you. I mean, if they are expecting any respect, let them pay for it because according to them, the giver has the liberty to alter the amount of respect. There is nothing silly in this. Let there be green chillies instead.
So, where are these talks about gallows, respect, selfishness and the like taking us now? Equally, I am confused. As with the picture above, I am totally confused right now and I would choose the path with a question mark than to take any known road for now. If I discover something, I win. Else, I remain in the loser's boat. Err... I guess the boat is pretty much known to me. Thus, I step into the unknown for now. -rPhoenix
